Durga Puja
Durga Puja also known as Durgotsava, a famous Hindu festival when Goddess Durga is worshipped refers to all five days festivity which are observed as Shashthi, Maha Saptami, Maha Ashtami, Maha Navami and Vijayadashami. Ghatasthapana mostly falls on Shashthi Tithi during Devi Paksha. The Goddess Durga arrives on the Earth on the day after Mahalaya Amavasya. She departs on Durga Visarjan day.
Laxmi Puja
In West Bengal, Orissa and Assam, the most important day to worship Goddess Lakshmi falls on the full moon day in lunar month Ashwin. Lakshmi Puja on Purnima Tithi in month of Ashwin is known as Kojagari. Kojagari Puja Purnima is more famously known as Sharad Purnima in most parts of India.
Kali Puja
Kali Puja also known as Shyama Puja, a Hindu festival, dedicated to the Goddess Kali is celebrated on new moon day. In West Bengal, Orissa and Assam worship Goddess Kali on Amavasya Tithi. In most of the years, Diwali Puja and Kali Puja falls on the same day but in some years Kali Puja might fall one day before Diwali Puja. For Kali Puja, the day when Amavasya prevails during midnight is considered.
